Sapiency - Tomorrow Review

Sapiency is a 6-headed german melodic death metal band formed at the end of 2009. After only one year, they released their first full-length album called "Fates End", an album that got tons of positive feedback from music specialists and magazines.

After 3 years, Sapiencys' new release called "Tomorrow" will be released on the 15th March 2013, a long-awaited new album.

Bestial rage of these melo death lords is shown again on this new release. I expected something great, something beautiful and authentic, and I got even more than that!

I don't really know how to start this review right because the album has so many good things! Everything from the quality of the recording to the songs themselves and their structures, everything is magnific !

The guys in the band are all capable to play their instruments at their best and the voice is also very diverse and is really catchy. I bet that the choruses in songs like "Prayer For The Pain" or "Turn The Tide" will remain in your head for days!

The vocalists have a very powerful voice. They are angry and motivated and want to send their message! Lyricaly they talk about different topics but the main subject is (like the album title) tomorrow and the future. Back to the sound of the voices; besides really powerful clean vocals, you can also hear even more powerful growls that really fit to the album and I bet that you will fall in love with the album even if you don't like growls.

I used the world "power" quite a few times in the text above. The reason is that this world describes the music perfectly. The album is like a storm. Sometimes it turns into a hurricane and shows you really chaotic and brutal parts in Sapiencys' songs, and sometimes it turns into a pleasant rain that shows you the other side of Sapiency: beautiful melodies, solos and leads. They also use acoustic parts and this album is absolutely one of the best releases of 2013 in the melodic death metal charts!

The guitars sound perfectly and the songs are very good structured. They have the perfect amount of repetitions of the choruses, they have beautiful and breathtaking solos and also really enjoyable bridges, interludes and transitions. All songs fit together and the guitars and vocals are the strenght of the album in my opinion!

Almost 50 minutes of very good written melodic death metal that does not get boring at all, from the beginning to the end. That is the problem of many new melodic death albums; the songs are to identic and generic and you can't really divide them while listening to the album. That is not the case on "Tomorrow". The songs are diverse and authentic. For example the song "Unknow Enemy" has a nice black metal touch in my opinion that I personally like and the song "Tomorrow" could be a perfect metalcore song if it would have a breakdown somewhere art the end, but it hasn't, don't worry if you're anti -core; this is pure fucking melo death.

The bass has a good mix and is not shy to play it's own leads or varitions so it does not always follow the guitars, a good thing in my opinion. It gives the music a really nice depth and the keyboards make this album perfect.

The drumming on this album is also very interesting. The drums are dynamic and are variated. They have a good sound and give the music alot of energy. You will find really fast songs but also slow ones, you will listen to songs that have a really melancholic mood but also very positive and "hopegiving" ones. On this album you can find everything the heart of a melodic death metal fan needs.

All in all, this is a wonderful album. Give it a try, it also has a cool cover and booklet artwork and I can not see any reasons why you would not like these tunes. Check them out and buy the music, it's worth a try! Cheers!
