Bust A Move - There's No Place Like Home Review

Bust A Move is a german deathcore Band formed in 2009 in the german Ruhr-Area. They perfectly combine brutal breakdowns and tight death metal riffs with melodic and hardcore elements to create really melodic yet facemelting deathcore music.

Their first full-length album "There's No Place Like Home" was released in 2012 through the german label Bastardized Recordings. (Six Reasons To Kill, Ichor, Science Of Sleep, etc.) and imediatly got tons of positive reviews and feedback.

"There's No Place Like Home" is a concept album. It tells the story of a man searching for home, affiliation and identity. Ripped out of his familiar surroundings, contaminated with abominable thoughts and driven into despair he tries to find his way in a hypocritical, diabolical world. Where to go, when everything you once loved is taken away? Where to go when the inner demon controls your soul and tries to pull it into a misanthropic underworld? Only the thoughts of something intimate, of his roots, of his home keep the protagonist alive.

A very good idea and concept and really good lyrics. The lyrics are all really personal and can be interpretated in many ways by the individual listener. The vocals perfectly match to the situations in the songs and to the music itself. The singer has a dark voice full of power and anger. He mainly uses mediumlow death growls in a "shouting style". His voice is very powerful and he is able to sing even darker at some points. I really enjoy the rare high growls, it's a pity that they don't use them more often in their songs. On this album you will listen to a mature male voice full of power and anger, no clean singing or maybe for you annoying pig squeals.Respect.

Musically, the band uses down tuned guitars and a really good-sounding drum kit. The guitars have a really clean death metal sound that fits to the music, they are perfectly recorded and the whole album is in high quality. The guitarists are using different techniques to create this simply awesome album, they use stromg palm muting, cool pinch harmonics, really tight tremolo picking and so on, everything what the heart of a deathcore fan needs.

The bass is really good mixed and with good earphones you can hear that it gives the music a good depth. It mainly follows the guitars, I would enjoy some variations of the bass because I really like it when the bass breakes loose and plays it's own leads or melodies, but you rarely find something like that on deathcore albums so it's okay.

The drums are sounding good, the kick drum is tight and matches the breakdowns. They don't play many variations and are not as dynamic as a progressive death metal release but like I said, for a deathcore album they perfectly fit to the sound of the album and are very groovy and tight! You can hear energic 2step beats, blast beats and all kind of facemelting beats that perfectly fit to the music.

The songs are pretty well structured, we can hear heavy & brutal breakdowns with fat bass drops at the beginning, some choruses that get repeated, bridges, interludes, breathtaking outros and so on. They don't play breakdowns all the time, so don't be afraid of that if you're not a deathcore fan. They are perfetly placed and sometimes get even darker and slower when they repeat them. Bust A Move use several time signatures and aren't afraid to break a 4/4 with a 5/4 or 3/4 at the end. You will fall in love with their beautiful melodies 'cause this album also has some metalcore elements that you can clearly hear.

The mix of the album is really good, the songs fit together and are not too generic and identic and the awesome cover art fits to the music and makes this release perfect. Check it out and support these guys and underground metal, they have a big future in front of them!
