Q:  What was the reason for using the band name "Goddess Of Fate"?

A:  Well, back in 2007, when we just started the band, the metal band's name in Indonesia is just too generic. Everything is named with "scary/disgusting" vocabulary. so we thought to ourselves "Fuck this shit man, we are gonna named our band Goddess, fuck this machoism bullshit". We were also a big fan of Lamb of God back then, so we want our name to at least has "God" in it.
"Goddess of Fate" is also a character in Kingdom Hearts game. Most of us are RPG/Squaresoft fan. So that name is also represent us a nerdy gamers as well. It is also our concept as a band that we are affiliated with Life, Fate , and Time. Before we found Goddess of Fate as a name we just picked a random name everytime we played, because back then, we don't give a fuck about name actually.

Q: How many shows have you played, and which one has been your favorite thus far?

A: We do no't really count Shows actually. I think there must be like 50 shows or something since 2007. Gigs in here are not as much as any other country. Sometimes we just play once in a month, our favorite maybe when we were on tour (Four Habitats Tour) in 2012, because there are a lot crazy stuffs going on. But live shows is not our priority anyway, our main goal is creating music.

A: What lyrical theme do you guys use in your music? What message do you want to send?

A: We were already take a certain path with the concept of lyricism. If you listen to our demo in 2008/2009 the lyrics is just about random things, we just throw every "hard-to-define" vocabulary to make it sounds cooler. But with our EP, A Reversal Civilization, we want to create something meaningful, we talked about the end of the world here, and how will it end, but as a metaphorically not literally. The concepts are also about The Paradoxity and Recursivity of Life, The Work of Fate, and The Time.
There are a great deal of making lyrics. Vocals and lyrics intertwine with what kind of things you want to represent. For us, this made things much more adorable, much more cohesive than if you sing about nothing. We want to be moved by what we created together. But at the end of day, It is just a piece of art, we do not want to "sending message", because people have a right to
choose what they want, and we are as a musician just want to express ourselves. If people get it, cool, but if they don't, it is cool too, that is all, just do not let your guard down.

Q: What song do you enjoy playing the most live?

A: Maybe the title song of our EP, A Reversal Civilization. It is just one crazy song. clocked at 11 minutes, our longest song so far. It is also the benchmark of our live shows. If we are survived by playing this song, then every other songs are just a piece of cake. The second one is Putaran Sistem (System's Rotation). It is just a really catchy song to play.

Q: What artists have influenced your band and its music?

A: At first, we just want to be Trivium cover band, but as time goes by, our influences are become very huge, since we hear a lot of music. So if i'm gonna summarize the influences, they are Buckethead, Rush, Dream Theater, Meshuggah, Necrophagist, Between The Buried And Me, Obscura, and also some Japanese Composer Yasunori Mitsuda, Nobuo Uematsu, and Yoko shimomura, musically.
But lyrically, all science-fiction works (2001, Metropolis, 1984, etc) or RPG games like Chrono Cross became our main influence.

Q: If a fan wants to get a tattoo with one sentence from your lyrics, which sentence should he take?

A:  We do not really have a favorite line from our songs, all songs are the same to us. But if we should pick, maybe lyrics from our upcoming songs :
"this progress that have been done might lead to the starts again"
"fixing something is breaking another parts"

Q: If you would tour the USA this year, which bands would you like to play with?

A: We do not really have a plan to visit US in the uncertain future, since we live too far from them. But if we want to choose a band to play with, It is our dream to play with Dream Theater. lol

Q: What is the main source of inspiration when writting new music?

A:  A lot of things that inspired our life are inspired our music. For example, you probably have a variety of records that you listen to on a daily basis or a weekly basis or whatever. These things shift and shape your definition on music and things like that. We are also do some regular things that maybe do not have corelations to music, but we do not realize that this thing also became a part of our music as well. For example, our hobby is playing game, so when we decide to making a songs, the influence of certain games (the soundtrack, the storyline, etc) become a part of our music without we even acknowledge it.
In relation to what influences us when we’re writing, it’s usually music that is interesting to us and challenging for us to create and to play. We are just emulating the things that we are listening to. We've been a band for almost six years. Now we exist on our own weird cage when it comes to define our "genre". We wanted to create an album that was really powerful to us. We just want to play music and having fun, if we feel that it is not fun anymore, then we are gonna call it a day. But we do not see that is going to happen anytime soon.

Q: What are your plans for this year exactly?

A: We are going to release our first Full-Length, do some live shows, Tour, and maybe doing some collaborations with other musicians.

Q: Do you have any shout outs to give the readers?

A: Do not forget your past, it is the source of inspiration and to quote Lemmy "You win some, lose some, all the same to me".
